same song, second verse. sort of. but the roles have been switched. now it’s red shirts doing the protesting. i’ve heard reports of road blocking and marches going on in and around chiang mai, but i’ve not seen any of them. i have seen the pictures from bangkok and read the news reports of all the protests going on there and it does seem scary.
i’ve been reading reports from the nation. and from the bangkok post. and the new york times – where there’s a picture posted of the red shirt protesters removing niphon promphan, secretary of prime minister abhisit vejjajiva, out of his car after attacking him at the interior ministry in bangkok on sunday. that picture scares me a little. makes me believe things are certainly escalating.
but if it weren’t for the internet i’d have no idea that anything is going on right now. however, i know for many here in thailand, this crisis is charting a new course for their lives. financial situations will worsen, businesses will fail and it seems never ending right now.
