perfectly balanced

i took a left brain/right brain test* and thought i would share the results – because they are that interesting. i’ve summarized the summary, you know, stripped away all the confusing psycho babble. i have included the unsummarized summary, also. for those who are more detail oriented, but trust me, my summary pretty much sums it up.

Your Brain Usage Profile:

• Auditory : 50%
• Visual : 50%
• Left : 50%
• Right : 50%

monica, you are perfectly “balanced”.

there is both good news and bad news.

first, the bad news – your head and your heart will be in a state of constant conflict.

now, the good news – you are qualiified to be a lady of the night. or, perhaps, a star in the adult entertainment industry.

here’s the unsummarized summary. but, really, you can trust me. it says the same thing i said, just with a lot more words. and capital letters.

Monica, you are one of those rare individuals who are perfectly “balanced” in both your hemispheric tendencies and your sensory learning preferences. However, there is both good news and bad news.

A problem with hemispheric balance is that you will tend to feel more conflict than someone who has a clearly established dominance. At times the conflict will be between what you feel and what you think but will also involve how you attack problems and how you perceive information. Details which will seem important to the right hemis- phere will be discounted by the left and vice versa, which can present a hindrance to learning efficiently.

In the same vein, you may have a problem with organization. You might organize your time and/or space only to feel the need to reorganize five to ten weeks later.

On the positive side, you bring resources to problem-solving that others may not have. You can perceive the “big picture” and the essential details simultaneously and maintain the cognitive perspective required. You possess sufficient verbal skills to translate your intuition into a form which can be understood by others while still being able to access ideas and concepts which do not lend themselves to language.

Your balanced nature might lead you to second-guess yourself in artistic endeavors, losing some of the fluidity, spontaneity and creativity that otherwise would be yours.

With your balanced sensory styles, you process data alternately, at times visually and other times auditorially. This usage of separate memories may cause you to require more time to integrate information or re-access it. When presented with situations which force purely visual or purely auditory learning, increased anxiety is likely and your learning efficiency will decrease.

Your greatest benefit is that you can succeed in multiple fields due to the great plasticity and flexibility you possess.

*i found the link to this left/right brain test on someone else’s blog. and i would love to be able to link back to them and say thanks, but i can’t remember whose it was. so, if it was you, let me know. i’m all about giving credit…

  1. I’m not sure I like this! It was a little creepy. I am not a very visual person–I do think I knew that. Interesting…

    Your Brain Usage Profile:

    Auditory : 66%
    Visual : 33%
    Left : 52%
    Right : 47%

i thought it was a bit creepy, too. but some of it was pretty good.

  2. Hmmm…have to go and do this one. Thanks for giving me yet another reason to waste time on the internet…:)

i’m all about helping out my friends. 😀

  3. OK, so I couldn’t resist the test:

    Auditory – 31%
    visual – 68%
    Left – 50%
    Right – 50%

Looks like I am missing 1% – this may not be a big surprise to you! Glad to see you back. Love, Mom

    that 1%? it’s very important

  4. Interesting test. I was surprised at how accurately it described me in some ways! I’m going to put it on my blog too, because even though I can be creative, I can also be a copy cat.

i’m all about sharing the good ideas… and it is a little scary who true some of it was.

  5. well,
    my results:
    Auditory : 52%
    Visual : 47%
    Left : 70%
    Right : 29%

    the explanation:
there was alot of blah blah, but this part resonates with me, especially at the mo as i’m thinking about the next phase of life…

Overall you tend to be somewhat more critical of yourself than is necessary and avoid enjoying life too much because of a sense of duty. You feel somewhat constrained and tend to sometimes restrict your expressiveness. In any given situation, you will opt for the rational, and learning of almost any type should be easy for you. You might need certain ideas explained to you in order to fit them into your scheme of things, but you’re at least open to that!

though i do really enjoy life, and i don’t restrict my expressiveness lol i am critical and perhaps over-analytical of myself and i do feel a sense of duty.
    ah, food for thought.
    mwah X

i don’t think any of that’s bad, but is great to recognize and figure out how to make it work for you – or change it if it’s possible. my stuff is pretty ingrained. i’m hoping to unlock the wii fit pole dancer soon so i can get started training on my second career.

  6. This was fun… I think this was accurate in many ways… while I can do left brain stuff, I tend to make final decisions based on right…

    Your Brain Usage Profile:

    Auditory : 42%
    Visual : 57%
    Left : 37%
    Right : 62%

i think it’s pretty accurate, too. at least for me. i’ve read in other sources that ambidextrous people tend not have a predominate side.
