haiku – tokay

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
three posts in one week
i seem to be obsessing
scared of the tokay
quaking in our boots
we’ve christened him godzilla
afraid for our lives
his menacing growl
and the way he bares his teeth
strikes fear in our hearts
we’ve seen him at work
are certain he means business
how will we survive?
google will save us
search “what will eat a tokay”
google’s let us down
unable to sleep
he stalks our house all night long
we are so tired
  1. Oh my gosh! I am sorry but it is so funny to me. It would NOT be funny to me if I were in your shoes. Makes for great posts though. I wonder what REALLY happened to your dog? Scary!
    we’ve been told that it’s as scared of us as we are of it. but we’re not convinced. 😦
  2. I had to scroll down and read the older posts to find out what the heck you were talking about. So scary!!!! I don’t really mind reptiles but that one would freak me out FOR SURE. Ack!!!!
    i know. we have all these cute little geckos everywhere. but who knew they could have such an ugly cousin!
  3. Oh yucky! I’m so sorry you’re being traumatized by this little guy.
    we’re pretty sure he’s enjoying himself! our shrieks are music to his ears!
  4. Egads! But great fodder-ku!
    isn’t it? my mom would like to figure out how to make it leave, but i’m not so sure. right now he’s my muse. 🙂
  5. i just went back and read the first two posts…i’m scared for you!
    ummm…they would never ever be found in Canada…right????? 😉
    great haiku! i missed your haikus! 🙂
    i know this saga is almost as good as the pioneer woman’s confessions! and no, canada is too cold! you have winter and we have tokays!!
  6. Eating the little pet shop guys is JUST MEAN! (:
    yes, but it is the only way i felt i could really show how terrifying this fellow is!!
  7. Man that is scary…
    This may be the first time I have ever been glad to live in New Jersey. The only thing outside my door is traffic.
    i know. i don’t know why i didn’t think moving to thailand might mean creatures!
  8. Oh, wow! I also had to scroll down to see what the fuss was, and, yikes! It does make for a fun haiku, though. At least there is that, right? 🙂
    i know. it’s sad when everything that happens is filtered through the “would that make good blog fodder” filter!! 🙂
  9. Yuck! I’d be scared and obsessed too!
    Great haiku!
    my husband heard one in the used book store he was visiting last night!!
  10. Oh, I’m so sorry you are having such a rough time. I’d be FREAKING out. Good luck?
    funny thing… it’s supposedly good luck to have one of these things hanging around!!
  11. Frightening … this ‘beast’
    seems a worrisome critter!
    Hope you solve this soon!
    Mine new situation isn’t scary … but a gopher has moved into my yard and I don’t know what to do w/o harming my kitty. I didn’t have time earlier to read many HF posts, but am trying to catch up a bit today. I posted on each blog Friday … multi-tasking as I so often do. HF#41 and HF#42
    Hope you’re enjoying your holiday weekend!
    Hugs and blessings,
    i hear gophers can be a pain to deal with – especially if you have another pet you don’t want to harm! good luck!
  12. okay we need a new post! I am sure you arent busy showing your mom around or anything! hope to see a new one soon.
